Jennifer Ellis won 300 low hurdles and Melissa Asmondy claimed the shot put as the Warhawks took second in the North Shore Conference outdoor at Grafton on May 15.

Ellis won her race by more than a second in 47.31 while Asmondy took advantage of the absence of a top competitor from Nicolet to claim her title by three inches with a throw of 35-6.

Germantown took part in the WIAA regional meet at Sussex Hamilton on Monday and qualifiers from there advanced to the sectional meet Thursday at Menomonee Falls. The top three in each event plus all those whose efforts are among the top eight of all sectionals statewide advance to the state meet in La Crosse on June 1 and 2.

"We've been training hard and I think everyone is ready to go," said Ellis.

The Warhawks scored 100.2 points for their spot as Whitefish Bay defended its outdoor title with 118.

Jayne Bertieri also had a good meet for Germantown, taking second in both the 100 (13.02) and the 200 dashes (26.49).

Other good places by event for the Warhawks included 100 high hurdles, Ellis, third (16.1); 100 dash, Bethany Laubenheimer, fifth (13.67); 1,600, Caitlin Dillon, third (5:14.28); 800 relay, third (1:52.27); 400 relay, fifth (52.22); 800, Dillon, third (2:24.11); 1,600 relay, third (4:12.92); long jump, Chanelle Harris, fifth (14-9 ½); and shot put, Katelyn Turner, fourth (33-7).
