7th Grade Track Season

Butler 7th Grade Invitational
Waukesha North High School
Jayne with Coaches McCutcheon and Thomas
after breaking the 15-year old 100 Meter Dash record

Jayne completed a very successful first track season this year at Kennedy Middle School. She won every 100 meter and 200 meter dash she entered. Nearly all relays, which included the 4 x 100, 4 x 200, and 4 x 400, were first place finishes.

There were a couple of highlights that occurred during her first season. In May, the Butler 7th Grade Invitational was held at Waukesha North High School, with 16 area schools competing. Jayne broke a 15-year old record in the 100 meter dash in the preliminaries and then, officially, broke the record in the finals. She came home with two gold medals and a bronze, when her 4 x 200 relay team took first place, and the 4 x 400 placed third.

Conference was held at Homestead High School in Mequon the end of May, with athletes from schools in our area. Jayne was one of three 7th graders chosen to participate, as the best runners from 7th and 8th grade are chosen to compete. She participated in three sprint relays and sprint medley relays, where two boys and two girls made up the relay teams. Her relay team earned gold medals in the 400 and 800 meter relays, and a bronze in the sprint medley relay.
