Junior Olympics Results

Jayne pulled a muscle coming out of the blocks in the 100 meter dash quarter finals.  This was her first race last Monday in the National Junior Olympics in Norfolk, Virginia.  She limped to the finish line, where she was seen by medics.  Jayne was told to rest and ice her injury and that it would take at least six weeks to heal.

She decided to run in the 4 x 100 on Friday because she didn't want to let the other three girls on the relay down after they had traveled 20 hours by bus just to run this race.  It was extremely hard to see her run in pain, but I'm so proud that she ran to allow the team to participate in Nationals.

Jayne has four more years of club track, so there is plenty of time for her to leave her mark.  Indoor track starts at the end of November.  Until then, thank you to all of our friends and family who supported Jayne's efforts during the club season.

AAU National Qualifier

July 3 & 4, 2010
Brooklyn Center, Minnesota

Virginia, here we come!!!                       Henry and Jayne

Jayne qualified to compete at the National Junior Olympics in both the 100 meter dash and the 4x100 meter relay.  The top four finishers earned a spot to compete at the national level.  Jayne placed fifth in the 200 meter dash, missing the cut off by less than a tenth of a second.  Videos:  100 Meter Finals, 200 Meter Semi-Finals, 200 Meter Finals, and the 4 x 100 Meter Relay

Our friends from Madison - Crystal, Jason, and Henry - came to cheer Jayne on.  It was great having them with us.  It is not easy being outside for two days in 90+ degree weather!

We leave Friday for Simpson College (outside of Des Moines) for the USATF National Qualifier Meet.

AAU State Championship

June 27, 2010
Carroll College - Waukesha, Wisconsin

As the meet was getting started, a severe thunderstorm with lightning rolled in.  About 2,000 people had to evacuate the track and spend an hour in Carroll College's fieldhouse.  The track was very wet, which slowed the athletes down a bit.  Many of the athletes were from Wisconisn, but we also had quite a few entries from Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa teams.

Jayne earned her first win in a club individual event today with a first in the 100 meter dash!  Take a look at the video of this race.  Jayne also took second in the 200 meter dash, and the 4 x 100 relay team, anchored by Jayne, placed second.   Video of the relay.

We are leaving this Friday for Minneapolis for the AAU National Qualifier Meet, where Jayne will run the same three races.  This is a very important meet - only the top four finishers in each event qualify to participate in the National Junior Olympic Games in Norfolk, Virginia.

Conference Meet

May 27, 2010

Middle School Coaches with Jayne
Thank you to the KMS Coaches.  We will miss you!

This was the last track meet for Jayne in middle school.  She ran two 100 legs and a 200 leg in relays which alternated between boys and girls running.  It wasn't as successful as last year's conference, but the 4 x 100 relay earned a second place medal.  Jayne also long jumped.  VIDEOS:  Long Jump 1   Long Jump 2    4 x 100 Relay    Sprint Medley     4 x 200 Relay

Jayne and I are going to the State High School track meet in LaCrosse on June 5th to support her Mustangs friends.  Mustangs practice starts on June 7th, and the first meet is in Waukesha on June 19th!

Germantown vs. Sussex Templeton

May 24, 2010

Jayne came in first in the 100, 200, and 400 meter dashes tonight.  That means that Jayne placed first in every event she ran this season and broke four school records!  (Three of those school records were her own.)  Jayne will be leaving middle school with the school records in the 100, 200, and 400 meter dashes.

She competed in the long jump three times and placed 1st once and 2nd twice.  To see one of her long jumps, click here.  Videos: 100  200   400  The Conference meet is this Thursday, and all races are relays with boys and girls running every other leg.  She will be running a 100, 200, and 400 leg, as well as participating in the long jump.

Germantown vs. Mequon Steffan and Port Washington

May 18, 2010

Same events as last night. 100, 200, and 400 meter dashes and the long jump.  Four first place finishes.  Jayne broke her 100 meter dash record for the second night in a row (third time this season), with a time of 12.84 seconds!  Four high school conference meets were held around Milwaukee last night, and this time would have won two of those meets!  Jayne tied her 400 meter record from last night.  And, with her second time long jumping, she improved her distance by more than a foot and won.  The last regular season track meet is Monday, May 24th, against Sussex Templeton.  This meet was rescheduled from May 11th, which was rained out.  100 Video   200 Video   400 Video   In the 400 video, Jayne is third after rounding the first corner, then after the second and third corners she takes off!

Germantown vs. Mequon Lake Shore

May 17, 2010

What a great night!  Rather than running the 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 relays, Jayne's coaches decided to challenge her by entering her into the 400 meter dash and the long jump.  The coaches thought Jayne would break the 400 meter record, so that she would hold the school records for the 100, 200, and 400.  They were right!  With Jayne's first time running the 400, she broke the school record.  She also broke her 100 record for the second time this season, with a time of 12.9 seconds. (100 Video) She went on to win the 200 for a total of three 1st place finishes tonight. (200 Video) It was the first time Jayne participated in the long jump, and she placed second.  The next meet is tomorrow night.

May 6, 2010

Jayne added 4 more first places to her season: 100 meter (view video) and 200 (view video) meter dashes, 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 relays.  This was the third meet in a row that the team had to run into the wind.  Jayne now has 10 first place finishes for the first three meets, with four more meets to go.

Germantown vs. Grafton

April 29, 2010

Jayne ran the 100 meter dash, as well as the 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 meter relays.  Three more first place finishes!  She didn't run the 200 meter dash because her leg was sore.  It was a very windy meet, and the team was running against the wind for their races.  View the 100 meter race.  Jayne is in Lane 1, closest to the inside of the track.

2009 - 2010 MUSTANGS INDOOR SEASON RECAP

Since I didn't post to the blog during the indoor track season, here is a recap.  Most of the indoor meets were in Illinois, either in Chicago or Bloomington.  Jayne earned several more medals over the season.  She placed second in the State Indoor Championship meet in both the 55 meter dash and the 200 meter dash.  Jayne ran at Indoor Nationals in February and placed 11th in the 55 and 12th in the 200.
