Track and Field Signs Three New Recruits

MILWAUKEE, WIS. (Aug. 6, 2014)—As the new school year and collegiate athletic seasons begin to start, the Cardinal Stritch University Wolves track and Field program have been busy building their roster for this upcoming competitive season. The Stritch track and field program have announced this week the signing of three new recruits, Marleigh Petras (Milwaukee, Wis.), Alize Souter (Milwaukee, Wis.), and Jayne Bertieri (Germantown, Wis.).

Marliegh Petras comes to Stritch as a graduate of Pulaski High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She will be an extremely competitive runner for the Wolves as a sprinter, running the 4x100 through the 4x400 sprints. Petras was a 2013 Wisconsin State Track and Field Championship qualifier in the 4x400.

Alize Souter will join the track and field program as a relay runner, as well as, a jumper. Souter recently graduated from Milwaukee Vincent high school and has impressive stats on the track. She is a two time Wisconsin State Track and Field Championship high jump and triple-jump qualifier. Alize also qualified for the AAU National Championships, where she was recognized as an All-American, placing seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 37'10".

The third signed recruit Jayne Bertieri will join Stritch in the fall recently graduating from Germantown High School. A sprinter, Bertieri has an impressive track record. She holds the 100 meter, 4x100 meter relay, and 4x200 meter relay records at Germantown High School. She has had multiple Wisconsin State Track and Field Championship appearances and finishes. In 2012 she finished 11th in the 100 meter dash, 11th in the 4x100 meter relay in 2013, and 10th in the 4x200 meter relay in 2014.

The Cardinal Stritch University Athletic Department and track and field program are excited to have these three join the pack for next year, and are looking forward to watching them rise through the college rankings in their collegiate track and field careers.
